more vacation pics

Heceta Head lighthouse-well actually this is the keepers house. now a b&b that is supposedly haunted

Miss Independent walking the trail down from the lighthouse. She would turn around and follow other passing groups up the trail. i didn't think we would ever make it down the trail.

Cape Perpetua

Yaquina Head Lighthouse-otherwise known as Flyhouse. just by us of course. the flies were everywhere. when we got there a small wedding was just finishing and we commented what a nice spot for a wedding. beautiful sceanery-then the flies attacked us as we got closer. it was freaky how many flies were there. no escaping unless you got back into your car and LEFT.

The only sunset we were able to see due to fog. we packed Molly up in her jammies and watched it on the beach-where she fell asleep.

Molly (cow) and Ellie (farmer) at the Tillamook Cheese Factory.

Jason, Ellie, Joey, me, and molly having fun at the cheese factory. gotta love cheese samples, a picnic, and ice cream to finish you off.

How sweet. Ellie and Molly watching cheese being wrapped. ok, not the most exciting thing but it was a fun experience and great time to see the Vandermeides.

Joey (pig), molly (llama-i think), and ellie (goat)

i love this picture!

On the road home, we stopped at Burgerville for lunch. They have a great area for the kids including a picnic table their size.

made it home

It took was a long Sunday drive due to accidents and everyone else coming back to town. Molly was a trooper for the ride home. We were all extremely tired of being in the truck when we got home. Floyd actually let me drive his brand new truck for 6 out of the 8 1/2 hours it took to get home. It should be a 6 hour drive. We are all still trying to catch up on sleep and get back into routine. Funny how that is, go on vacation and need a vacation when you get home to recover. Here are pictures from our adventures: Enjoy!

Molly stole Mr Man's shoe

She likes to pat people
View from our room. not too shabby
Viewpoint at Devil's Punchbowl.
Devil's Punchbowl. We have now come here 2 different trips to the coast and have never seen it "spit". I guess wintertime is the season to come.

family vacation!

Greetings from the Oregon Coast!

We are taking our first family vacation on the Oregon Coast, more specifically Gleneden Beach. We are using our timeshare so we have a 2 bedroom condo for 10 days. So far, my sister and family came and stayed with us last weekend. It was great to see them. We never left the resort. oh, wait, they never left the resort the whole weekend. It was spent going from pool to beach to pool to beach. you got the picture. Floyd and I were able to get away for a date. I know a date-what is that. It has been awhile since we have gone out just the 2 of us and since our 7th anniversary was on Monday, we thought we would take advantage of potential babysitters. We are meeting up with Erin, Jason, Ellie, and Joey tomorrow up at Tillamook factory. Not a bad way to spend time together eating cheese and ice cream. It has been a few months since we have seen them. Then this weekend, Floyd's old navy buddy Matt and his wife are coming to stay for the weekend. This is a great way for us to see our friends who live in Oregon and they get to come to the beach.

Molly did a great job riding in the car for over 6 hours!! When we left home it was going to be close to 100 degrees. She slept until we were almost to Portland. We stopped in Portland for a snack/bathroom/ run around break. Temp outside 100 give or take a degree, I think add a degree. Luckily, we had stayed at the Red Lion just after you crossed into Oregon before so we knew they had a banquet area with room for Molly to run around in air conditioning so that is where we stopped. Plus they have clean bathrooms. Something we have learned, stop at hotels with banquet/conference facilities-they are clean and no one really notices you aren't hotel guests. Anyways, back on the road again, we stopped at a nature lookout between Salem and the coast so Molly could again, eat, change diaper, and run around. Temp was much nicer there. Another hour later, we checked into our condo. What a shocker-it was high 50's, low 60's when we got in around 7!!!!! So cold after being in 100 degree heat earlier in the day. Plus there was lots of fog.
Happily, we have a view of the ocean and pool area. I wasn't sure about overlooking the pool but it has been fun people watching. It has been cooler, in the 60's most of the time plus intermittent fog. Tonight was the first night we could see a sunset. We packed Molly up in her jammies and went down to the beach to watch it. She feel asleep all snuggled up to daddy listening to the waves.
We have done some sightseeing but also are enjoying just hanging out here at the resort. Molly got a floaty thing for the pool. Kind of like the top of an exersaucer so she sits in it and floats in the pool. Today was the first day she was ok about that. otherwise, she just holds on to us.

I will post more about our adventures when we get home and the internet is faster to upload photos.
