highlights of August

here are some photo highlights of the month so far.  We had a pool party at the local swim club with church last weekend.  Perfect day for the pool-hot and sunny.  Our neighbor loaned us her “Jeep” that was her son’s.  Floyd got a new battery for it and Molly loves driving it around the yard.  Her favorite direction-backward.  Yup, she likes to drive in reverse.  What a funny girl.  I have even given it a spin.  Had to make sure it was safe for our little girl.  haha.  DSC05592

try #2

ok, so I just finished typing a long post and was about to load pictures when my computer pooped out on me.  Needless to say my post is gone.  Somehow, I don’t think this is going to be as long but I will save it while typing this time.

So it has been a crazy month.  Molly turned 2-can you believe it?, I was snack lady at church for VBS.  We had 85 kids this year, another great turn out.  And sadly, Shelly and Jonathan moved to California.  But not before staying with  us for a week.  It was a crazy week!  I think we all had fun with so much going on.  Our hoped for down time didn’t exactly happen much but we were able to enjoy sitting on the deck talking while the kids were sleeping.  Molly loved having them here too.  She still talks about Jonathan non stop.  I think it is safe to say she misses them.  She’s not the only one!

We had a fun birthday party for Molly on her birthday with cake and BBQ.  She had a blast running around with the neighbors and J.R. and David.  Her verbal skills are expanding greatly.  She has surprised us with sentences as long as 8 words.  She can jump with both feet off the ground and loves to climb and hang off the bars.  She is starting to play dress up a little more and have more imaginative play.  It is fun to watch.  She knows the alphabet but doesn’t quite get them in order.  Same with counting to 10.  She skips around a little.

We have made it to our local beach a few times now that summer is trying to surface here.  The kiddie pool has been getting good use by Molly and David.  Molly has really taken to going to the library.  She loves her books.  She will sit on the couch and have us read all 4 books and then ask to read them again.  Curious George is a favorite.  Jumpy Jack and Googly also ranks pretty high up there.  She knows how to check out the books herself-with some help of course.  She has her routine while we are there, says hi to the fish, plays with the puppets, tries to play the preschool games on the computer, and randomly grabs a few books to take home.  I don’t know how she decides what books to pick but they have been good so far.  She carries our library card to the checkout, pulls out the stool to climb up on, scans the card and books (that’s where I help out), and prints the receipt.  She proudly carries the receipt to the car.  Now that the weather has been so nice, we have started reading her books on the roof of the library.  It is a nice park like setting plus a great view of the water.  Great place to watch all the boats go by.

Oh, Floyd and Rich went kayaking last weekend.  They really enjoyed themselves.  They kayaked around Lake Union, went thru the Ballard locks (transitions from the Lake to the Sound), paddled to Golden Gardens, had lunch, and then headed back to Lake Union.  It took them a good portion of the day.  It was something they both have wanted to do for a long time.

Ok, so maybe this post is turning out to be as long as the one that got away.  I will post a few highlight pictures.  I will post an album with all pictures for those of you who just can’t get enough of Molly.  Hope summer is treating you nicely!     ok, the blog draft is saved, let’s load some pictures!DSC05530 DSC05359 DSC05425 DSC05441 DSC05442 DSC05465 DSC05481 DSC05483 DSC05496 DSC05503 DSC05506

Hunting Dust Bunnies

While I was hunting dust bunnies under our bed, Molly was helping sweep the floor and dust. What a helper. I was almost done and about to say it was time for lunch when I notice water on our hardwood floor. Then Molly says, "i washing the floor". I'm thinking "there's no water in the bathtub -where is she getting the water?" I followed her into the bathroom to see water all over the toilet seat. Yup, she was dipping her cloth into the toilet bowl for water to clean the floor. I took the swiffer cloth away from her and threw it away while explaining we don't use the toilet water to clean things with, etc. No sooner did I walk out of the bathroom, did she grab it out of the trash and bring it back out into the bedroom saying "we need to dry it, let it dry" I managed to convince her to put it on the side of the tub to dry (I then knocked it into the tub where she couldn't reach!) Needless to say my plan of just dusting/sweeping has now expanded into steam mopping the floors and cleaning the bathroom. I love my little helper. I couldn't even be mad at her about it. She was just helping her Momma.

Videos from gymnastics

Gymnastics last class of the session

The last class of every session is a “show” class for parents, grandparents, etc to come see what the kids have been learning.  Molly wasn’t quite her energizing bunny self on Monday (I heard her up at 3am talking and playing in her crib) during class so she didn’t do many of the skills.  I was able to get some good photos and a few short videos.  So here ya go…..
